The Non-Metallic Innovation Centre (NIC) is holding an event on 15 February 2024, dedicated to ‘Welding Techniques for Thermoplastic Pressure Pipes.’
The online event will be led by TWI Technology Fellow, Mike Troughton who has over 30 years of experience in research for the plastics industry. At TWI, he co-ordinates all R&D, consultancy and training activities in the realm of plastics.
With his main expertise covering the welding, inspection and mechanical testing of polyethylene (PE) pipes, Mike has written over 30 technical papers as well as editing the ‘Handbook of Plastics Joining – A Practical Guide.’
Mike has managed over 150 research and consultancy projects for TWI clients around the world and is a member of various ISO, CEN, ASTM, IIW, AWS and ASME committees on the welding of plastics and plastics pipes, as well as being Chairman of the British Standards Committee on plastics welding.
Taking place between 1 and 2pm (GMT) on 15 February, 2024, this event won’t take much of your time and will allow you to find out about the current welding techniques for joining unreinforced thermoplastic pressure pipes and the potential for their use in joining reinforced thermoplastic pipes.
