The NIC held a webinar dedicated to welding techniques currently used for joining unreinforced thermoplastic pressure pipes and their potential suitability for joining reinforced thermoplastic pipes.
The online event took place on 15 February 2024, drawing an impressive 305 registrants and 149 attendees live on the day.
The event was presented by TWI Ltd Technology Fellow Mike Troughton, who has over 30 years’ experience of research for the plastics industry. He has expertise in the welding, inspection and mechanical testing of polyethylene (PE) pipes, about which he has written over 30 technical papers.
Mike is also Chairman of the British Standards Committee on plastics welding and a member of various ISO, CEN, ASTM, IIW, AWS and ASME committees on the welding of plastics and plastics pipes.
Having managed over 150 research and consultancy projects for clients across the globe, as well as being the editor of the ‘Handbook of Plastics Joining – A Practical Guide,’ Mike was well-placed to answer questions from those who attended the event live.
For those who missed this informative event, or who would like to revisit parts or all of it again, we have included a recording of the webinar, below:
